What is this Role?

Projecting song lyrics on a Sunday plays into what we consider one of the most essential responsibilities a Church can provide - going above and beyond to make it easy for ANY person to be involved.

When you provide lyrics to worship songs, you put everyone in the auditorium on an equal playing field. Whether they’re in attendance every Sunday or haven’t been in a church in years (or ever), providing lyrics makes it easy for everyone to participate.

Instantly, a barrier has been removed and people can join in creating their joyful noise.

Because so many eyes will be focused on them throughout each service, it’s important to make sure that lyric slides are organised and done correctly.

What to prepare Mid-Week

Listen to the ‘Spotify’ playlist and familiarise yourself with each song. Listening for verses, chorus breaks and bridge builds. If you listen to the music and dynamics of a song, you can hear where the worship leader wants to take the song.

What to prepare on Sunday

Upon arrival, get your playlist done. Ensure the songs are correct, your message is copied across and your videos have been downloaded and ready for playback.

Once the platform team are ready for rehearsal, use this time to ensure all lyrics are correct, the appropriate cues have been applied and the arrangement is correct. Running lyrics during rehearsal and sound check is as much for you as anyone else - as you get any opportunity practice each song.

During worship, ALWAYS remain attentive to the worship leader and the MD (Music Director). Be listening to where they are heading in each song so you can follow and lead the church to the same place.

Generally, as soon as the last word of a slide has started to be sung, you should switch to the next slide. This allows people to see the next line before they go to sing it.
