Excellence is simply bringing your NEW best every time.
We are always seeking to grow in our gifts and talents, so excellence changes (and always should!).
When you bring your best you are honouring God, honouring your leaders & team mates, and honouring your church who you are leading in worship.
Practice is what we do at home in preparation. This is where we learn our songs, learn specifically what our role needs to know, and are then able to bring that knowledge to a rehearsal.
Every role in our Creative team practices.
- Musicians practice what to play
- Vocalists practice what to sing
- Production learn the mix, lyrics & dynamics
We all practice.
Rehearsal is what happens when we all combine and run through the songs together. We have already all learnt the songs when we were practicing, and now we are applying that knowledge together as a team.
This sometimes highlights areas we need to continue practicing.
This is what happens on a Sunday before a service.
By this time we have practiced, rehearsed, practiced again, and now we are ready for a service. Our only goal in soundchecks is to top and tail songs to get a FOH mix, and in-ear mixes. Anything else is bonus and not guaranteed.
This is why Practice & Rehearsal are so important. Sound check is literally just checking the sound before the service.
